Our Model- Gathering
The last month I’ve sketched out the values of House of the Transfiguration. Last week I shared about our overall model for the church.
Once again, pictured here is a visual representation of our model (you can click on it to see it larger):
On Tuesday I talked about the roots of the model: Contemplation. Now we move up into the branches.
The first of the “fruit” on the branches is Gathering. Programmatically this will be our weekly Mass. We’ll get together to share the Eucharist, sing hymns, and worship God together. We will follow the church year, celebrate the seasons and the feasts, and walk liturgically in the way of Jesus.
The gathering will use the Novus Ordo Mass, but will also feature a mix of contemporary and ancient music, inclusive language for God, and space for other liturgical experimentation. We will value visual art in both worship space and worship.
At this point we aren’t sure where we’ll be meeting. Ideally we would find an established church that would allow us to use their space for our weekly worship. If you have any ideas of a church that might be open to that, let me know!
The Gathering is just one part of our life together. Next week we’ll talk about the other pieces.
