Friction
Over the next several weeks I want to share more about the vision and values of House of the Transfiguration. This is a way to give you a taste of what this community strives to be. Please contact me if you have any questions or want to get involved. A launch group will be starting in late January/early February and we’d love to have you there!
Catch up on the values you missed here.
The next value is: Friction: By being in community we create a spark that ignites change.
House of the Transfiguration is centered around the idea that change happens best when it happens in community. If we want to change ourselves and our community we need to do it together. How do you learn to be more patient? By being in situations that try your patience. How do you learn to love more deeply? By being around people and learning to love them. Following in the way of Jesus can’t be done alone.
At House we believe that when we spend time with each other, when we know more about each others’ lives, when we work together, we can create a spark that leads to change. Friction works to create fire by rubbing to things together to create heat. Change in people’s lives happens in the same way; our lives and personalities rub up against each other and create sparks and hopefully those sparks ignite into heat that fuels and warms the community.
We want to be a community that spends time together and is involved in one another’s lives. We want to eat together, pray together, laugh together, and work together. In this way we will encourage one another to always be trying to be more like Jesus and to live more sustainably and justly in the world.
